On Monday 20 May, 2019 we will be sending out electronic ballots for the election of officers for IDNIYRA for 2019/2020, and for consideration of an amendment to the IDNIYRA by-laws. The Governing Committee encourages your participation in the ballot, which will close on June 2nd.
Ballots are being sent to 242 members. Five members will not be receiving ballots because we do not have their current email address. Only owners of DNs have voting rights in IDNIYRA, so we are using sail numbers as an avatar for boat ownership, and your sail number is your election ‘voting key’. We have another 17 members who do not appear to have sail numbers and who also will not be receiving ballots.
If you have not received a ballot by Tuesday May 21st please send an email to Deb Whitehorse secretary.idniyra@gmail.com providing your current email address and sail number. If you need to order a sail number please do so online here.
Please vote and be an active member of IDNIYRA.

An important message from IDNIYRA Commodore Warren Nethercote:
IDNIYRA will be conducting an electronic vote beginning Tuesday, October 30, 2018.
The Governing Committee has learned that in 2010 IDNIYRA obtained a tax number (an ‘EIN’) from the IRS, but that we never followed through to establish our status as a 501(c)(3) organization. We are an incorporated as a non-profit in Michigan, but separate application is required to establish our non-profit status with IRS. Completion of our application to IRS requires an addition to our constitution to define what would happen to our assets in the event of dissolution, and specifically that assets will not go to individual members, but instead to a successor organization with similar objects. We encourage you to support this addition to our constitution.
The Governing Committee is bringing this matter directly to a member vote by means of electronic voting. Should you not receive an email inviting you to vote by Wednesday, October 31, 2018, please send an email to Deb Whitehorse secretary.idniyra@gmail.com with your name, correct email address, and sail number, together with when you last paid membership dues.. We can then add you to the voting list and send a ballot to you. Both email address and sail number are required to allow for those members who share an email address, or use a third-party email address.
Warren Nethercote,
IDNIYRA Commodore

IDNIYRA members will soon receive via the postal service an IDNIYRA ballot where you can vote on the election of the Governing Committee and vote on proposed changes to the Constitution and Bylaws. The ballot is attached to 4 pages of Constitution and Bylaws proposals. Please take the time to review the proposals, fill out the ballot, detach it from the proposals, put it in an envelope, and mail to Secretary Deb Whitehorse.
This ballot gives you the opportunity to approve the use of electronic voting by internet for issues that affect North America. Please make your voice heard on this important measure.
DIDN’T GET A BALLOT? Please email to me exec.secretary@idniyra.org and I will send one to you.
DEADLINE: All ballots must be postmarked by July 1, 2018.
