Begin heading west because there are 3 sites under consideration in Wisconsin. At this time there’s nothing being considered east of Houghton Lake in Michigan.
Lake Superior at Red Cliff (near Bayfield)
West end of Lake Mendota in Madison
Lake Winnebago at Oshkosh
Lake Superior and Mendota will be sailed tomorrow and evaluated. The continued warm weather has proved challenging in determining the best possible site.
There will be another conference call on Thursday, January 19 and our goal is to make the final decision by 1:45 PM CST (2:45 PM EST).

The Governing Board, Rear Commodores, and other Western Region members held a telephone conference call this evening to discuss possible regatta sites. Though it’s more than likely there are good sites available in the Western Region, we are asking ice scouts across North America to continue to report conditions to their Rear Commodores. At this point, the primary site continues to be Wisconsin but we do have options in other regions. Next update will be Wednesday, January 18, 8:30 PM CST.
United States DN sailors traveling to the Worlds – it’s always a good idea to bring a passport no matter where the primary regatta site may be called on. Conditions change. Be prepared!
The goal is to announce the FINAL CALL BY 9 PM CST ON JAN 18. THE LATEST WILL BE NOON JAN 19.
